Who Is RYBE? Meet The Sister Duo Blending R&B and Hip-Hop

Who Is RYBE
RYBE, short for Rhythm and Vibe, the sister duo who effortlessly blends hip-hop and pop into a sound that is uniquely their own. The group is comprised of Regan Aliyah, a rapper and actress known for her role as Juliana from the Netflix series XO Kitty and now as Zelma the witch in training on the Disney+ show Ironheart. Her sister Ryan Asher is a singer/songwriter who brings the melodic, raspy vibe similar to T-Boz from TLC.
From Dance Crew To Musical Duo
The girls actually got their start in a dance crew called Urban Xtreme. They audtioned to be a part of the Disney show Shake It Up Make Your Mark and actually got to be featured on the television special to perform “Fashion Is my Kryptonite” with Bella Thorne and Zendaya.
There isn’t much information on the inspiration behind the sister duo. What we do know is that the girls come from a long line of performers. Their mother is a professional dancer which is why choreography is very important to them when it comes to their visuals.
Regan Aliyah and Ryan Asher’s Musical Chemistry
Their musical style can be described as high energy Hip-Hop but with R&B counterpart that compliments it and balances it out. The girls also have different styles that offset each other in the best way. Ryan Asher adds the soft vocals matching Aaliyah and Mya which add an airy feel to their music while Regan Aliyah provides the fire akin to Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Da Brat. Both have two different styles but they pair very well together.
Their debut single “Freedom Rider” was released in 2019 however, the sisters decided to take a break to pursue other ventures before returning to music in 2025 with the release of their single “Hot”.
“Hot” Singles A New Era
In an interview with Front Row Live Entertainment the group wanted “Hot” to be a reintroduction to the new sound they are creating and it translates into their later singles like “Flirt” and “Jerry Springer”.
How RYBE Is Reviving 2000s Hip-Hop and R&B
Their identity as a group is nostalgic with references from the 90s and the early 2000s but they make it their own from their fashion choices to the way they shoot their visuals.
RYBE is already in the process of being the next girl group to dominate hip-hop and R&B. The chemistry between the two and the energy they deliver to their music is electric and fans can feel it. If their recent releases are indication, the duo is postioning themselves as one of the most promising emerging acts in alternative hip-hop and R&B.
